Andrew Billstein
Lawyer
Andrew was born and raised in Billings, Montana. After leaving Billings for seven years to attend Hillsdale College, in Hillsdale, Michigan, followed by law school at the University of Montana School of Law, in Missoula, Montana, Andrew returned to Billings and began practicing law in September 2003. Andrew is grateful for the support of his wife, Jennelle, and two children, Abigail and Hanley. Andrew is proud to be a present or past board member of the Better Billings Foundation, Big Sky Youth Education Foundation, Billings Christian Schools, Billings Symphony Society and Faith Evangelical Church.
Andrew has been recognized by Martindale-Hubble, the primary lawyer listing service in the U.S. as an AV-rated lawyer, the highest ranking one can achieve.
Mike Monson
Lawyer
Mike was also born and raised in Billings, Montana. Mike received a degree in business administration from Montana State University-Billings and practiced as a Certified Public Accountant prior to attending law school at the University of Montana School of Law. Mike has practiced law in Billings since September 2006 and is joined by his wife and three sons. Mike is an adjunct professor of law at Montana State University-Billings and serves on the Board of Advisors of the Montana State University-Billings College of Business, and the Board of Directors of the Yellowstone Boys and Girls Ranch.
Mike has been recognized by both of America’s Leading Lawyers for Business and The Best Lawyers in America.
Steven T. Small

The managing partner and member of the firm’s business group, Steve focuses on solving complex real estate transactions, including acquisitions and sales, financing, commercial leasing, and title-related issues. He also represents lenders and borrowers in secured and unsecured financing transactions, loan workouts, and restructurings. His experience includes representing clients in entity formation, asset and stock purchases, corporate and partnership reorganizations, mergers, and acquisitions. Additionally, applying his intimate knowledge of Indian Country, he helps clients identify winning strategies and find favorable outcomes in transactions involving American Indian tribes and project development on tribal and federal lands. In addition to his law degree, Mr. Small has an extensive business background, holding both a B.S. degree in finance and an M.B.A. He is both the Chief Appellate Judge and Chief Constitutional Judge of the Northern Cheyenne Appellate and Constitutional Courts. Mr. Small has practiced on multiple Indian reservations and is admitted to practice in Montana, Wyoming, and North Dakota.
Frans A. Andersson

Frans is a transplant from New England. He attended the University of New Hampshire where he studied political science and philosophy. After moving west, he earned his law degree from the University of Montana School of Law in Missoula, Montana. Frans went on to spend a year at the University of Florida to earn a LL.M. in taxation. Frans represents individual, corporate, and institutional clients in all matters relating to tax law. He also assists with real estate transactions, corporate governance, and finance. In his spare time, Frans floats the various rivers of Montana with his wonderful wife, growing family, and bird dogs.
Shane Coleman
Lawyer
Shane has counseled businesses and individuals with commercial disputes and intellectual property matters in Montana since 1998. He graduated with a degree in electrical engineering from Montana State University in 1995 before attending the University of Montana School of Law.
His commercial litigation practice includes intellectual property, employment, construction, real estate, bankruptcy, class actions, and other commercial disputes. He has tried cases in Montana state and federal courts, as well as in surrounding states. He has also argued appeals before the Montana Supreme Court and federal appellate courts.

Anna M. Reed

Anna was born and raised in Cody, Wyoming. She attended Montana State University in Bozeman, Montana and received a degree in Film and Photography, followed by law school at the University of Montana School of Law, in Missoula, Montana. Anna has practiced law in Billings since 2019 and is admitted to practice in Montana and Wyoming. Her practice areas include estate planning, estate and trust administration, guardianship and conservatorship, and adoption. She enjoys spending her free time quilting and exploring the great outdoors with her husband, Chase, kiddo, Cyrus, and two dogs, Annie and Sue.
John VonLangen

John received a bachelors of science degree in electrical engineering from the State University of New York at Buffalo. After graduation, he earned his juris doctorate degree, cum laude, from the University of Dayton School of Law. John practiced law in Billings since 2010 as Senior Counsel for GE Capital US Holdings, Inc. handling a wide variety of legal matters including commercial contracts, secured transactions, real estate, business and corporate law matters, employment issues, licensing, data privacy, operations, internal investigations and regulatory and compliance matters. Prior to joining GE Capital, in private practice John represented large and small lenders and borrowers in finance transactions, loan work-outs and restructures. He also represented individuals, businesses, corporations, real estate developers, landlords, tenants, investors and agribusiness owners handling all of their business, commercial and real estate needs. John is licensed to practice law in Montana, Alaska and Florida. On a personal note, John is a father of 3 amazing kids, He strives to live a healthy and active lifestyle and enjoys a wide variety of fitness related activities in his free time including running, weightlifting, hiking, biking, triathlons, road races, adventure races, snowboarding, kayaking and paddle boarding, to name a few.

Caity Zimmerman

Caity's practice focuses on estate planning and administration, particularly for families with agricultural backgrounds. Caity grew up on a working cattle ranch in Wilsall, Montana, and received a Bachelor of Arts in Communication from Pacific Lutheran University. After completing two years of volunteer corps service in South Africa and Chicago, Caity graduated with honors from Alexander Blewett III School of Law at the University of Montana. Caity had the opportunity to clerk for the Honorable Justice Jim Rice at the Montana Supreme Court and was in an estate planning practice with Josephson Law Firm in Big Timber before joining the Billstein, Monson, and Small team. Caity still helps out on the family ranch on the weekends, hikes the Crazies, bakes cakes, and attends live theater events whenever she gets the chance.

Daniel Beierwaltes
Associate Attorney
Daniel grew up in Billings and received a Bachelor of Arts in Finance from Carroll College in 2017. After working in Jackson, Wyoming for two years as a ski instructor, he graduated from the University of North Dakota School of Law in 2022, earning the Energy, Environment, and Natural Resources Certificate. After graduation, Daniel had the opportunity to serve as Law Clerk for Honorable Jessica T. Fehr, Thirteenth Judicial District Court, in Billings, before joining the Billstein, Monson & Small team, focusing his practice on commercial litigation. While out of the office, he enjoys cooking, spending time up in the Beartooth Mountains with his yellow lab pup, Lucy, and of course, skiing during the winter.
